Where the repository data comes from.
COPRHub is an independent storefront for the Fedora community’s COPR repositories. Repository names, maintainers, descriptions, instructions, and build targets come exclusively from Fedora’s COPR API.
How the index stays fresh
A scheduled sync checks recent projects and works through the full index every 15 minutes. Content hashes identify changed records. Deletion candidates are checked individually against COPR before removal. A full scan takes multiple runs; this is an eventually consistent index, not a real-time feed.
The Magazine archive
Magazine badges come from the “4 cool new projects to try in Copr” series. We match each article’s repository enable commands to the COPR index and keep its publication date and original link. This archive is maintained separately from the repository sync. A historical feature does not establish that a repository still supports your Fedora release.
What the counters measure
- COPRHub stars: one star per account and repository.
- GitHub stars: retrieved from a unique, explicit GitHub repository URL in COPR metadata.
- Flathub installs: the Flathub API’s installs_total value for an explicit Flathub app link or an exact shared GitHub repository URL in Flathub AppStream metadata. It is a separate distribution channel, not COPR usage.
- COPR package downloads: the sum of architecture counters on the official project listing. The current page labels these “Total number of downloaded packages” without a time window. These are not unique installations or users.
Missing counts appear as a dash. External counters refresh on a rotating schedule; each successful check has its own timestamp. Ambiguous matches are not assigned automatically.
How discovery is ranked
A confirmed feature in the Fedora Magazine series adds 100 points. The remaining signals can contribute up to 90 points combined:
- COPRHub stars: up to 30 points, reaching 15 at 10 stars.
- COPR package downloads: up to 25 points, reaching 12.5 at 10,000 downloads.
- GitHub stars: up to 20 points, reaching 10 at 1,000 stars.
- Flathub installs: up to 15 points, reaching 7.5 at 100,000 installs.
Each count uses weight × count / (count + midpoint). Missing counts contribute zero. Ties favor newer COPR project IDs. A Magazine feature therefore ranks above count-only results. Arbitrary Magazine links in repository descriptions receive no editorial points.
Your account
Use a passkey or a configured social provider. Link more sign-in methods while signed in. We store your display name, provider identifier, passkey public keys, stars, and sessions. Social access tokens are used for sign-in and are not retained. Fingerprints and face data stay on your device. Accounts are never merged just because email addresses match.
Before you install
COPR contains third-party repositories, including experimental builds. Review the maintainer’s instructions and build results. A listed Fedora target and a Magazine feature do not guarantee suitability for your system.
